My wife and I just spent 20 days on our sailboat in Kenai Fjords National Park. Great trip, awesome scenery with bears and whales to photograph.

All shots with Canon 50D, Canon 70-200L lens. Whale shots also used the Canon 1.4x extender. Shutter priority mode.
The whale shots are from the sailboat. The bear shots I rowed our inflatable dinghy closer to get the shots. The bear actually had two cubs but one was very shy and stayed hidden.

Wow dfalk, wonderful stuff. We did the same trip a couple years ago but not exactly the same way or getting the same shots you did. I shot from the rail of an excursion boat over the heads of 20 other like-minded touristos. No. I won't show you mine.
