$50 K is a reasonable target ;-)

Define "reasonable"

That which is predictably certain to occur when a photophile's acquisitive addiction cannot be sated until he/she has a (a) pro-style, full frame DSLR (with at least a dozen lenses), (b) first-rate rangefinder (viz. a Leica M9) and a half dozen peerless lenses, and (c) infrared (or infrared converted) camera (e.g. Fuji IS-Pro), plus at least one suitably expensive (e.g. Zeiss) lens. ;-)

Is that a real figure? Holy cow! You can buy a decent camera for that.

There is no end to infiniti! Technogloghy will always change, so you will have to always change with it, which means your wallet, will never get a rest.

This is a quote that you always need to remember.

List for EN-EL18 is $220 on Nikon's page. Still too much but not what you paid (or saw).

John D. Rockefeller was once asked " How much money is enough?" His reply, "Just a little bit more". Same question may apply to "How many lenses...?" "How many cameras?" Does not answer your question but I think Rockefeller's reply may apply to photography.

Some people just don't like or know how to have fun!

So where's your "reply in a jocular vein"? (You didn't mean jugular vein, did you?)

No, i meant jocular, as in having fun, merriment, joking. I was jocular until someone went for my jugular. Ah, but such in the merriment of this opus that I almost regret the time spent taking pictures in lieu of responding to such sophomoric comments. I'll simply have to assuage my angst by perusing the latest CaNikOlymPenSon conspectus. GRYM,G

Eventually, it can slow down a lot. Neither my wife nor I has bought a new camera or lens in a year or more, and the last camera was simply in order to go full-frame from crop-frame, and get all my focal lengths back (Leica M8 to M9). When my current DSLR stops working (which it's showing signs of doing), I'll get another, but until then, I don't think there are any cameras on the market that are worth buying. There are a few lenses I'd like, but they're not essential.

Mind you, this is after 45 years of photography, and long ago I lost count of how many cameras and lenses I have.

Cheers,

R.

Hmmmm..... Not really. In order to earn a living, I need digital, and after 40+ years using Leicas, that meant an M9.

Cheers,

R.
