Jim,

In that case, if you take your laptop out to a client's home to preview the photographs, and the client does not have an available internet connection, and the Wireless is not available, what happens when PS tries to 'phone home' to verify its version?

It doesn't complain and lets you go about what you want to do. It is completely stand alone. It it looking to be successful at least once a month, and I hear there even some grace period over that. You can go all over with the laptop and just once and awhile it needs to know you are legit.

I use Aftershot Pro2 and Paintshop X7 Ultimate, I've tried Lightroom and Photo Shop, but I didn't feel comfortable with the layout, but then I've been using Paintshop since X6.
I'll most likely stay with it than jumping to PS/LR

I have been using PaintShop since JASC owned it, and have continued with it after Corel purchased it a few years ago. I'm not a professional photog by any stretch of the imagination, but PS has been able to do anything I need for image processing. And the cost is right.

If you watch, Corel has been putting out some great deals on PS7 over the last couple months. They've been working on PS8, and while a release date hasn't been formally announced yet, best guess is that it will be sometime this coming Fall. So you probably have the option of watching over the next couple weeks for a deep discount on PS7, or waiting a couple months and getting PS8.

Jim,

Thank you, I will have to change my impression for the future.

I have used about every PP program available and still depend on PSP for most of my work.

I've been using various versions of PSP for at least 15 years and I'm quite happy with it. I've considered a switch to the Adobe Cloud; it's a bit more expensive but my primary concern is that I'm so familiar with PSP that I suspect that my editing would suffer for a spell - and I'm not certain that the conversion would really improve my results noticeably.

Every detail of your post describes me as well. I have always used PSP for 15+ years and have always wondered if my photos would be better with PS. One thing that I have noticed over the years is that as the cameras improve the less processing I do. As a realtor with a point and shoot taking photos of houses in the early 2000s, I would rely greatly on post processing to remove shadows. And then I would do some other things. The software contributed mightily to the final presentation. But now, I like to use the fill light tool a little but most of the rest is good for me.

If I buy x7, can I put it on two laptops? I would like one copy on my laptop and on my wife's laptop.

Yes! You definitely can. I put it on my desktop and on my laptop with no problems. I think I could also put it on another device if I needed to.

Did you download the program or did you load from a disc?

I loaded it from disc. I purchased the program on Amazon because I always like to have programs on disks in case of future needs or computer failure. The program cost less on Amazon but if you buy it directly from Corel's website you'll get a few extra valuable additions for free. When you load and register the program you will be directed to get additional plugins and extremely low cost additions such as scripts that are very useful. There's also free tutorial videos at Corel's learning website. www.learn.corel.com
