Its always easy to second guess and I dont know the situation the day you shot this, but I wouldve made one of the brighter colored houses a focal point to ramp the shot up a bit. The gingerbread look juxtaposed with the modern skyline is classic.
At one time this scene was called Photo Motif #2, cuz it was the 2nd most recognizable photolocation in the US. (Photo Motif #1 was/is the lobster trap covered shcak on the wharfin Rockport, Mass.)
I wanted so badly to capture all of the houses....but it was Fleet Week and Alamo Park was packed with people. In fact, at one point, an entire busload of people stood in front of my tripod. Finally gave up, and decided to go back when less crowded.
