Im new to this photography stuff, i used to point and shot but i just bought a DSLR and I would like to get better pictures than I used to, like everybody else I believe! :wink:

I've been reading about how to use a DSLR and some trick like shutter speed at night and Aperture mode, Im a beginner so I would like to get some advice from you guys who are more experienced!

Here are some shots I took today.

The first one is interesting from the standpoint of geometric shapes and it was well taken. On the second photograph I like the inclusion of the fence post in the bottom left corner and also the streaks of sunlight lying across the trail. The sky seems a little bright to me.

I wasn't sure to put the fence on the picture but im glad I did it. Question: do you know how can I make the sky not so bright?

not sure but perhaps you could mask the bright spots and reduce the brightness

Great shots. It's hard to balance the highlights and shadows in paths lined with trees. If the light isn't right I don't even try. Full shadows on the path with light breaking on the sides made it a perfect shot. The post is a great leader. The best B&W of that type that I have seen in a long time. Daves' know!

Thanks ddeufemia, the B&W shot is my first one, im glad turn out a good shot for some people :) Im looking forward to this Sunday for Chicago Skyline, It will be my fist night shots. I need to do more reading about them ;)

These are nice shot and # 2 is quite inviting. Was it taken in a forest preserve? Looking forward to seeing your night shots. Chicago has a beautiful skyline...Jan

Thanks for your comment Jan, and yes I was at a Forest preserve near to my work. I hope weather allows me to take pictures, its been crazy this past days!
