I have no idea what the name of this plant is. It is in my garden. I just found it a few minutes ago.

My vote would be for Sweetpeas. I used to make sweetpeas in cake decorating.

It sure does look like it could be an obedient but so far all of the photos I have seen of them does not show any of the blooms with stringers extending from them. Since there are literally hundreds of varieties, I just may have not come across this particular one yet. I am going to call down to the nursery where I bought it and try to describe it to them. Maybe I can e-mail my photo to them. I shall ask. Thank you for leading me to what I now think is the right direction.

I FOUND IT!!! It is an obedient. It is the Joe Pye Weed. Thank you, R'laine, thank you djw60, and thank you BigBear. After narrowing it down thanks to you guys, I gave it one more shot on Google and the name" "Joe Pye" popped up. This immediately jogged my memory and I knew then that I need not look any further. I saw the pix of different variety's of this guy and that nailed it! Thank you all once more.

So, you bought this weed to plant in your garden? Do you remember how much you paid? I've got some weeds in my garden I'm trying to price out for you to see if you might want some of them...!!!

Seriously though, how did anyone figure out anything before we had this Wikapedia world at our fingertips?

We used to use the Yellow Pages. It is also funny to note that we, here in the United States, Have pretty flowers that in other parts of the world are called nuisance weeds. And Visa Versa.

I wish it were! Unfortunately it would be too small to do what I would want to do with it. Perhaps feed large children to it I also found the receipt. It is definitely a Joe Pyle.
