Its that time of year to repeat this post to save money and wipe out flies that are bugging you. Take a pickle jar and add about 1/4 cup maple pancake syrup, 1 tsp of sugar, 1/4 cup of water and half a hot dog cut in three pieces. With #2 phillips screw driver punch 5-7 holes (do not drill, punch) and set it to attract away from your desired area by about 5-10 feet. In 2-3 days it will be full of dead (mostly) flies and need to be emptied. It sounds so simple you would think its a joke but its not. You will eliminate 100-5000 flies each time you empty, based on size of jar. I promise you it will astound you how many flies it will eradicate!!

Great idea. My technique is more immediate, I use a fly swatter!

Where do you punch the holes? Most pickle jars are glass. I assume the jar must be plastic. Need more info.

The holes are punched in the lid, not the sides of the glass jar! Otherwise, the contents would leak out. Duh!

My wife bought a bug-a-salt gun. It works great and it is fun. It shoots table salt.

I often punch holes in glass using a very hot screwdriver. Makes it easy to pour liquid without opening or inverting the jar.

It really works. It seems to be well made and very sturdy.
