SX50.

I was driving along a gravel country road late yesterday (it was overcast & dismal) & saw these bright orange plants growing over a wire fence. Please download for better details.

Love these, Earl! They look like carrots! Some even have carrot curls. I'd like to know what they are. Super shots and especially the first one.

What a beautiful way to brighten up a gloomy day! Didn't you shoot something similar in red and not so profuse on one of your bush strolls? Could it be the same thing in a different color and thriving in better light? Would love to see this with a mass of the blooms opened.
Nice shot, Earl.

You are right, Sherry. I just found the link to the other post. They are more yellow than the above ones, but are definitely the same species. Earl. :-)

I checked that link again, Earl. I remembered them as red. The photos must have faded - it couldn't be my memory fading. I REFUSE to accept any more age-related conditions!

You might be thinking of some other post, Sherry. The two links are definitely the same species. The earlier ones were taken around midday on a sunny day--yesterday's flowers were taken late afternoon on a rainy day. This would possibly account for the difference in colors. Earl.

It's a beautiful profusion of color, no matter the hue! Would love to have such a bright spot in my yard.
Your winter seems even less harsh than what we have on the Gulf coast!

They also come in yellow. I have one red vine and two yellow ones on my chain link fence. They are very invasive and need to be kept under control. Propagate three ways: cuttings, rhizomes and seed pods. Seeds are very papery and blown easily by the wind.

Thank you very much for the information, Bruce. These are the only examples of these plants that I have ever seen. Earl. :-)
