I propose changing the name "golden hour" to "mosquito hour". In the area of Michigan where I live we have been lucky for the last two years with very few of the nasty flying mini bombers. This year just getting from the car to house requires a tactical plan.

Golden hour is used by people around the world. No mosquito problem in most of the world. So mosquito hour would be local only. Good luck and be inventive. Take Macro pictures of mosquitos. Kind of like bird watching.

Well, at least the birds and bats and dragonflies are happy and it will be over in a month or so.

Hi Bren, Michigan is still my all time favorite vacation place due to the upper being close to Ohio. What a place!

LOL I feel your pain or should I say bite! I heard on our local network news, that for the State of Illinois, the month of June had the least number of sunshine hours and the most rain in our history of recordkeeping eclipsing the previous 1901 record. I'm one of those folks that is a "mosquito magnet" and it has been a very long month to say the least.

Here is Phoenix, at least at our house, we just don't see them. No standing water, too hot, lots of reasons I guess.
I remember my youth in Minnesota. Talk about dive bombers - even a very short walk at dusk brought lots of trouble. I hope it improves for you.

When I go camping I start taking a B vitamin daily and don't stop till I'm back. Doesn't matter what the number. After about a week of daily pills the bugs won't touch you much. Apparently you smell terrible to them but not to other people.

When I worked in Florida years ago the mosquitoes were
eating me alive. I was told by a lifetime local to take two unscented garlic pills a day,and that in a day or two the
mosquitoes will stay away. They did stay away. All it.takes.is
one.bite and I'm getting out the garlic pills
PS.get the non oder tablets or pills and you will only stink to the mosques..

They are standard size of about the size of an asprin. Your local drug store will have them. Buy as many as you need for the trip or season. You must take one every day. As far as I know there are no side effects. I do not know the mg size but it is not a huge pill.

In that mosquito density is measured buy the square foot, I believe there is a tiny portion of the Florida Everglades which still ranks No. 1, worldwide, so have faith, it could be worse.
