I have the tamron 150-600mm and love it. The lens is much heaver that the sigma. But I think the sigma is plastic.

My biggest complaint about the UHH website - someone asks a question on a specific topic and others hijack the conversation and the next thing you know the discussion revolves around a completely different subject. Totally disconcerting.

Three reasons for that, one could be those that do this hijacking have not enough compos mentis to start their own topic or two they do not understand the topic or three and I believe the largest reason, trouble makers, they just like to see the fur fly, Nikon v Canon, Sigma v Tamron are two of their favourites. Mind you they can be entertaining at times !!

I don't agree, even though I was the one that raised this issue. I think you unfairly categorize people who go off topic. It happens a lot. It will keep happening. I do it too. In fairness to Bob and Bob, I raised this as a reminder to try to keep on topic at least until the subject of the thread has been properly addressed.

This is a public forum, open discussion, and a lot would be lost by limiting discussion to only the main topic of the thread. Hell, I even defended off topic chat in a recent thread, likening it to friends getting together at the back of the room to chat at the end of a meeting.

Even now I am way off the topic of the Tamron 150-600 but it appears the discussion has run it's course. So now chat away, I don't care.

But just a reminder, please try to stay on topic until the original post has been answered or discussed.

The Sigma "C" is considerably heavier than the Tamron and the Sport version even more so, because of the metal casing.

I doubt the Tamron is lighter because it's plastic.

Sorry to say but the Tamron 150-600 that I have is very heavy and it is metal.

Not that it makes any difference but, I wasn't saying that it wasn't heavy, I was saying I don't think it's heavi(er).

Much heavier than the Sigma? Really? Exactly what Sigma are you referring to? I don't think it is "much heavier" (if heavier at all) than any of the newer Sigma 150-600s.

Sigma 150-600 S = 6.31lbs. Tamron 150-600 = 4.30lbs. Sigma 150-600 C= 4.25lbs. I would not feel nor tell the difference in weight from the Tamron or Sigma "C". I am weighting to see what Tamron may do in the future to Sigma's docking station, if anything. Like them both. But have none of the above. I do have the Sigma 150-500 weighing at 3.92lbs (Lite weight class now) since we have moved into the Sumo wrestling weight.
