What a good idea. If more of the intrusive, noisy, pointless things get shot out of the sky then maybe the world will be a better place. Certainly those of us who work with wildlife will think so.

Yes, and if everyone put a shot-gun hole in everyone's car that cut them off in traffic or parked too close then we'd really have nirvana. :(

Note, in the article the Drone owner said had it had a camera, that would be an addition $300. Seems then like the fellow had priced a GoPro and was considering surveillance for his next test flight.

I'm not really too happy with these things with GoPro cameras flying around invading mine and others privacy. But one better be sure it is directly above one's own property and hope it crashes on ones own property before shooting one down.

Actually I would really more like to see one taken down as more a mischief stunt, say with sling-shot or kite! Neighbors with shotguns does not sound healthy.

Maybe the young man should be more concerned about his parent's house being hit three times by firearms discharges from the neighbor's property. Next time he visits his parents, leave the drone home and bring an AR-15.

It does raise the question, how far above your property do you own? If you fired a SAM at a commercial airliner, flying above your property, I'm pretty sure you wouldn't get the opportunity of just paying for the damage.

Well said.

I think that most people value their privacy and no one wants a camera/video drone flying over their yard or house. It's the natural progression from spying on your neighbors with a telescope from behind partially closed curtains.

But, if this guy is so worried about CIA drones flying over his property he is either sitting in the house with a foil hat on, or perhaps someone should pay a visit to him to find out what he is so afraid of being discovered.

I understand taking the guy to court to collect the repair costs on the hexacopter...but what I don't understand is this is the 3rd time the neighbor has discharged a weapon in the direction of the parents home? At what point do you call the police to file a complaint? There has to be some law on the books about that...
