Burney Falls State Park last weekend.
Thanks for the offer. I don't think that I can make it this weekend (sob). Will contact you via PM in the future when I can join up. I am located in both Sparks & Incline Village. Would love to do a shoot with someone more experienced.

I am East of Sacramento, and I spend a good deal of time in the Sierra. You are welcome to meet up with me some time if you have time to do that. I am heading for Smith, Nevada this weekend, which is a bit South of you by 2 hours I think. But sometime in the future, just let know if that sounds interesting to you.
I shoot along the Eastern Sierra in the Fall to capture the colors as well. That might be a good time. It is much cooler then. Hwy 395 has plenty of great locations right off the Hwy.

Beautifully composed shots, David! I still prefer the natural look to water.

Very excellent set. Impossible to pick a single 'favorite'. They are all good. Thanks for sharing.
So glad to see water period in any part of California, but especially in the north! Nice photos!

 Thanks Sue. By more natural look, you probably mean using a faster shutter speed. Two of the images in the set were taken that way. The more natural look to the water is a slower shutter speed because when you view the waterfall in person, you can't see the individual droplets. They are moving too fast. So the natural look would be a smoother looking water. The only way to capture the water droplets is a high shutter speed, but your unaided eye can't see that.
I think in actuality, too long and too fast are both "unnatural". It is always so individual with this kind of shot, so I shoot for both sharp and soft. Sometimes one just works out better with the stationary elements in the image. It varies.
Thanks for your comment. I really appreciate knowing the different take each individual person has on my images. I have found that a large number of nature photographers prefer the sharper image, while the general public buys the smoother ones. Those are the ones that sell.

This particular falls benefits from that fact that it is snow fed and also has a natural spring contributing to the flow. Most of the falls in CA are not so lucky.
