I recently received a Nikon p7100 as a gift. And I was wondering if I can use a Yongnuo trigger and flash with it. And if so which models would you suggest?

I have the 7000 use the Yongnuo YN-622N-ITTL with the YN568EX flash. I also have the YN-622N-TX i-TTL wireless flash controller. I am very happy with them.

Amazon has a couple of package deals -

2 triggers: http://www.amazon.com/Yongnuo-YN-622N-Wireless-Trigger-Transceivers/dp/B00CXM03D2/ref=pd_bxgy_421_text_y

1 controller and 2 triggers: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00LUXIM4W?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=od_aui_detailpages00

You can also shop other sites for them at various prices...

Other options:
Yongnuo 565EX: http://www.digitaltoyshop.com/Yongnuo_Speedlite_YN-565EX_flash_Nikon_Coolpix_P7100_t2601_6960_1

This unit can be commanded with the Nikon SB-800, SB-900 and SB-700. There are various commanders out there -
Do some research and find what you think will work best for you ;)

I have not used the Yongnuo myself, but I asked a similar question a few months ago and found there are many members that use Yongnuo equipment and are quite happy with them. Seems to be a very good balance between durability and affordability.

My wife bought me an Altura TTL flash and wireless trigger combo for my D5200 that so far has worked well for me (just another variable to throw into the computation :D )

I use Cactus Triggers and they work fine for me.
