suggestions please and enjoy the day after all we are heading back to towards winter after tomorrow...

Quick! head to Mt. Haleakala in Maui. A spectacular sunrise in waiting, as the sun rises over the clouds.

Better for you to get to Stonehenge in England, which aligns with the summer solstice.

I don't expect to celebrate in Portland, where the solstice is at 9:39, 4 hr and 18 minutes after the 5:21 sunset.

Been at stonehenge back in the 80's for summer and winter solstice.

Googles pointing me towards a nice circle on the southern coast but its nearly 2 hours drive

A non-traditional answer - try Tucson, AZ, for spectacular sunrises and sunsets on the desert. You won't be sorry.

Anywhere the clouds or another obstruction don't obscure it.

You need The Photographer's Ephemeris. Google it. TPE provides sun/moon rise/set times for astro, civil, and nautical. Includes a glossary and tutorial that will explain the differences. It also allows you to plug in the date for your location so it will then present you with azimuths for that place.

A great resource. Free. Donations accepted.
