A group of buildings of various ages has been abandoned since the Christchurch earthquakes 4 years ago. Interested groups are able to go through most of them with a guide but one (the oldest) is too damaged to enter.

Caro: Interesting! and thanks for posting. P.S. Any idea what is that utensil on the third photo?

What a shame. What beautiful photos! I love the one with with curtain billowing inward. It has a delicacy and grace to it that defies the storm's lasting mess. Perhaps the utensil in the third photo is to weed a garden? Just guessing.

Very strange. It looks like those forks are bent because I think they would interfere with each other if you tried to spread the handles. Maybe it was a salad fork combination.

Add my comment to all the guesswork. Believe it to be pliers to open some item. The handle suggest this

It looks like the tines of the forks have been bent in opposite directions making me think it may have been a salad fork at one time.

Nice photographs.

Fascinating series. We were supposed to dock there in January 2012 but were re-routed to Akaroa. Access to Christchurch was severely limited.
