It was voted the best APS-C DSLR camera on the market so one would assume it's a pretty good camera...I've had mine for 18 months now and love it...by far the best camera I've ever owned...

Just two of the awards...

Compared to other Nikon DX models, I particularly like the position of the buttons and controls that I use while on a photo shoot. The layout makes sense to me. It has good technology to produce great pictures. It has a very good weather seal usually found in higher end cameras. I like the user settings options U1 and U2 which will remember certain settings. Comes in handy when you are inside and outside taking pictures. I set U1 to my outdoor settings and U2 to my indoor settings, as an example.

These are few reasons I like it.

Another member already the U1 and U2 settings that remember settings. That's a great feature. Another feature that Nikon cameras have is the fn (function button) on the front of the camera. You can program it to carry out a variety of functions. The DOF button on the front of the camera can also be programmed.

Best bang for the buck!
With the introduction of the D7200, prices of used or refurbished D7100's are irrestible! The D7200 is not significantly better than the D7100 for the non action shooter but has served the rest of us mightily in its effect on the price of the D7100.

I've taken over 35,000 photo's with my 7100 this year.
I will tell you that I love it, for its dependability, and crisp clear photos.

It's built like a tank. Water resistant. I've shot in freezing snow, and the heat of the desert.
I know they all say full frame is better, but I think its negligible.

I know there's a lot of great cameras out there, but I think in this price range its the best you can get.

Life is good with a 7100.

I've grown up with Nikon and now shot a d700 and a d810. I've never owned a d7100, but have tried several of them over the years. Now I am considering getting one. They really do a great job for what they are. It has better reach than my fx cameras. Light weight and fast focusing, and really very cheap compared to the fx cameras. You can buy dx lenses cheaper than fx lenses. There are a lot of used dx lenses available. Whats not to like. Why don't I own one? Because I love my d700, and now my d810 and I can only shoot one camera at a time. If my wife ever sells her d300, we would probably replace it with a d7100 to go with the 18-200 and other dx lenses we still have.

Because it is a great camera. Love mine. It has more features that most mortals will ever need or use.

Several years ago we began our company with a D70. We built a portfolio 1st and then started to grow. Our move to the D7000 was a "Big" step for us. We rely on brackets for our RE business. When I read that the D7100 would do 5 brackets of +/- 2 stops I ordered from B&H before they became available. After viewing the superlative results of the d7100, we order another, post haste, as our back up.

The camera fits our needs and quality standards so well, we have no plans to upgrade.

Why is water wet?

(Sorry, had to get on the snide remark bandwagon)

I also have a D7100 -- and your photos show that it is more than a great camera to take great photos. I now have a new goal, to try to take photos as good as yours.

With that said, the D7100 is a fantastic camera. Fun to use, great image quality, and easy to set and change settings.
