The 2x converter I just received mounts on any lens with a 58mm thread therefore no adaptor is needed and it will take a 62mm front thread for filter mounting -- I don't know about a hood. I didn't spend much ($17.95 & free shipping) so I haven't tried this converter yet - it was made in China, shipped from California. So that is why I posted hopeing that someone had some experience with this sort of lens -- I guess I will have to try it on three of my lenses with a 58mm filter thread.
