For those with severe GAS, Hasselblad is offering an FF 24MP DSLR with a 24 - 70 lens for only $4000. The price was formerly $12,000. About the same size as a Nikon. Tough looking!

Interesting.
According to DP review: A restyled
Sony SLT-a99http://www.hasselblad.com/dslr/hv
Well that is a nice-looking camera.
Sony sells their camera and zeiss lens for $4K also (a $2K camera and a $2K lens) so it's a question of whether you want the Sony or Hassie logo.

$2k for a full-frame body and $2k for the lens is about right....actually less than my Nikon D800 and 24-70 cost.
For that price, the 'blad version would be great for an "image enthusiast"
They both look like a DSLR on anabolic steroids.

Are you kidding? Sony v Hassie? Since when has Sony had cachet?
Only important if you value cachet. I have always been a sort of anti-cachet person myself.

Cachet? Is it also a FF or is it a crop sensor. MP? cost? Is Cachet an independent company or just some name for another outfit. I think I heard a rumor that it will hgave 100mp and cost 2300 body only and will take either Canon or Nikon lenses.

I think it's the Sony A99. I wouldn't be surprised if most of the camera is made by Sony.
I remember when Pentax had a 2 1/4 x 2 1/4 film camera built just like a regular 35mm camera. I'm waiting for a medium format dslr built like a regular Nikon dslr.

The Pentax 6x7 (2 1/4 x 2 3/4)
did look like a scaled up 35mm camera.
Mike Tyson and his big hands would have been right at home with it.
I had one for a while but did not find it very comfortable to use.
Here it is next to the 35mm Pentax K1000.

Here's one that might work a little better.
Fujica GW690

The bigger prototype of the Fuji X100!
No mirror slap either.
