Has anyone gotten this lens yet? How does it compare to the Tamron?

I hear it will weigh six pounds--twice as much as the Tamron, which is not a light lens.

IQ would have to be amazing to justify lugging a six-pound lens---hand-holding and particularly hand-panning would be extremely difficult for me.

So basically, I am with Gawler ... I hope this new lens isn't so good I have to consider buying one.

I have only had mine a couple of days and been out with it once. Initial impressions are, image quality is fantastic, image stabilisation seems good, love the Lock switch that will lock it at any zoom length. Only downside is it is very heavy, I think the 120-400 will be kept in the kit bag and will go on the longer walks. THe 150-600 is definitely one that needs a monopod or tripod IMHO. But happy so far. Heres a couple of early samples.

Brapoza, since you've had a few weeks to play with the Sigma 150-600 "C", what are your thoughts on the lens with your Canon camera?

Sent it back, the focus was very slow on my 7D. The focus on my Tamron with the Nikon D610 body is much faster. Did like how it was built and the feel. Worked ok with stationary subjects.
