A big problem needs a solution..Does anyone know how?

I recently updated to the new Apple picture program without thinking too much about what i was doing. I felt my Aperture files would be left intact, and this proved to be a huge mistaken fallacy. My Aperture files were all moved to the new program, all my events were ripped from their projects and folders and organized without info on a per date basis on the new apple picture program. It has below par post processing potential, and took all the organizing work I have done over time and seemingly destroyed it.
Is there any way to reverse this process? I know Apple is not servicing Aperture any more, but I need it BACK.

Should be very simple. Delete the new program and copy the original Aperture files from your backup drive. (I cannot imagine anyone NOT having a backup!).

I would call apple, worse case would be $25 for an hours time from a tech. I made the transfer myself and retained all my library in perfect order. I'm not in the new Photos, but stayed in Aperture. There's some Mac wizards on this site. You should include /Mac/ in your question to get their attention....

Everything is still in your Aperture program just the way you originally organized it.

Try restoring the computer to the day before you installed it. I sure hope you have backed them up. I have a 2 terabyte hard drive that I back up immediately and I burn them to a rewritable dvd every now and then, when I have enough to back them up. I haven't had an Apple since my Apple II GS. It's been a while. I hope you get your memories (photo's) back.

I suggest that you have a specially dedicated external hard drive just for all of your programs, so that you will always have a backup. Upgrading is not without their time consuming tasks. I always hesitate to change programs because of this situation. If it works don't fix it. Upgrading to new current updated programs is always a compatibility problem! I am still using CS4 and LR3 because it has all that I need to post edit. I am sure when I replace my computer ( iMAC 27 ) I will need to upgrade most of my programs that worked with the OS. I process huge amounts of files and LR3 handles it quite satisfactory for my needs.

Get rid of Apple software (or stop using it) and start using Lightroom. If you are comfortable with Aperture it won't be too hard to make the transition to LR. It will not reorganize your files, if you don't want it to, but you might have to rethink how you want to organize your files at the OS (Finder) level. LR will provide internal organizational tools that are year-month-day-time based, but you can use that within your own file and folder structure. without changing a thing. And instead of physically moving things around on a hard drive you can make collections and use filters and tags to organize your work. Just a suggestion.
