According to my book, it appears to be a 'Gulf Fritillary'. That's a great pic. The white wing spots are almost identical to the picture in the book.

Here's a neat one: Ichneuman flies. The female drills down into wood with her long ovipositor. It looks like a huge stinger but they don't bite.
