If anyone knows what type of butterfly this is, I would love to know. Taken outside of Tucson, AZ

According to my book, it appears to be a 'Gulf Fritillary'. That's a great pic. The white wing spots are almost identical to the picture in the book.

Thanks so much Dakota. I always like to put a name to something new that I see, and I don't have any butterfly books. Here is another one, not as good a shot, but if you could identify this one also, it would be great.

Here's a neat one: Ichneuman flies. The female drills down into wood with her long ovipositor. It looks like a huge stinger but they don't bite.
