I do not usually do much black and white or sepia, but I have a couple that were taken at a Civil war re-enactment that I am getting ready to show. Any thought on what color of mat to use?
Thanks in advance.
I'm still thinking that for sepia photos, the "traditional" creamy mat is best. But when it comes to colours, shades and tints, there's cream, and there's cream and then there's cream.
Take your photo to where you buy your mats and see what looks best with it.
Another option, if you have to mail-order them for example, collect paint chips from a paint store, and tell the mat supplier that it should match Brandname paint #xxx. It would involve using regular snail mail if you have to send them a chip.
