I like the lighting and clarity of #1 best.

It depends... in the first image, the mountains are the main attraction... The problem I have with #1 is that the town is squashed... almost as though it should have been cropped out. So I would choose #2, even though the light on the mountains is not quite as dramatic as #1... But #2 is a more balanced shot... it positions the mountains (which are gorgeous) in the larger context of the town... and the town adds interest and provides some perspective. Definitely #2.

I would keep both, myself. I think #1 is a little more my favorite.

Combine the top of one and bottom of two. For my tastes anyway.

#2 because the post or whatever sticking up at the bottom of #1 is very distracting. In #2, it is less obvious and I also like more water.

#1. The brighter brights and darker darks of #1 brings a contrast that balances the overall tone of the shot.

To me #1 the sun had reached it's fullness and was ready to start to fade. #2 the fade was starting. What I saw was when you took each--not real far apart, I think. But what would I know??? I like both, really.
