Nice pics Marilyn, it has been cold here in MN also. I talked to my brother in Bemidji and it was snowing there but no snow stuck as the ground was to warm.

Morning Greg,
Has the water heater been shut off as of yet?
I was not sure when to pull mine but so far so good.
Its either rain or snow, I guess if i had my choice it would be the rain, But not so much of it.
Keep warm.

We shut our water heater off around the 20th of April and it has been good. The ground here is soggy from all the rain we have had which also means a lot of mowing the lawn. I will take the rain before the snow also, wvwn though it would melt but I would love the temperature to even out soon. warm and then cold.

What a pretty little bird! Beautiful photography. That's a dusky-capped flycatcher. :)

Is that what it was?
It returned this am in the rain and was catching the millers moths. after each one, it sat on the shepherds hook once again.

There's the ash-throated and the brown-crested flycatchers that are also in your area... it's possible it's the ash-throated. Your photos are better than any others I've seen. You should submit them to Audubon or AllAboutBirds or Wikipedia! They're really excellent photos.

Flycatchers are fun to watch, the way they perch high and then wheel out to snag flying insects on the wing. Here's what the ash-throated flycatcher sounds like: http://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/Ash-throated_Flycatcher/sounds

And on this page (lower right) is what the dusky-capped sounds like:
http://www.audubon.org/field-guide/bird/dusky-capped-flycatcher

Audubon's map doesn't show the dusky-capped in Colorado, so perhaps I'm wrong about that.

He/she is so damn cute Marilyn! I am so over this rain. I feel like I am beginning to grow gills myself. It has been raining all night and all day today. I'm ready for some sun! Be safe out there on the plains. Cheers.
