If one is traveling or backpacking and you want to know where the moon or the sun is going to rise, is there an app for that?? I just saw a short video on photographer's ephemeris and I'm thinking of downloading it. Does anyone have a favorite site for finding that information? Thanks..

For android use Sun Surveyor by Adam Ratana from Google Play store. Don't know about iOS versions.

Try The Photographer's Ephemeris. Fantastic app that will show you moonrise, sunrise, golden hour, etc. from anywhere in the world for any date. Available for iPhone and iPad, and your PC. Not sure about Android.

it's the VERY best.

Got me within 30' of the correct position for this shot of last Augusts 'Super Moon'.

I use the photographer's ephemeris on my android phone (and PC). I really like it, especially the satellite view.

The Photographer's Ephemeris that Smokey mentioned is excellent. So is the Moon Calendar. Both are available at the App Store for iOS, I don't know if they are available for Android.

I love that I can select a location on the crosshairs on the google map (or any of the other maps supplied with the app) and see exactly where the sun will set or moon will rise. Very accurate too.
