Super shot Nim of this Cicada Killer (Spheclus speciosus). Yes it is a wasp who stuns those summer green Cicadas with a sting, drags them to her underground chamber and lays a few eggs on them, seals up the chamber and the next spring the young devour the cicadas before emerging. (Wow was that a run on sentence or what?) Great detailing your photo. Would like to have seen even more in the download.
