My first SLR was a Minolta SRT102 so that will always be my beauty.

I got my hands on a Exaxta VX 1000 in 1958 and thought it was the most beautiful mechanical object I ever saw or touched in my life. The sounds it made with timers, shutters, and during exposure were almost overwhelming. I actually got to make some pics. with it. Not working as a photographer, and starting a family, I started saving and got an SLR 6 years later.

I have my 1000F, bought in 1956, sitting on a shelf where I can admire it. It sits next to an Argus Model A, a Rollie 35, a Nicon F4, and a few others wonderful machines. All bring back good memories.

I have a very shallow question for you all. What is the most physically attractive SLR, or DSLR you've ever seen. This isn't a question for the "a camera is a tool crowd" but for those among us that like the way certain cameras look, in addition to their practical application. For me it's the Contax ST, and the Pentax LX. The Contax is just the most exquisite looking camera I've ever seen. I loved the understated, and in my opinion underrated looks, and utility of the Pentax. It was lighter than an F3, and weather sealed around the pentaprism. It had a full range of manual , and electronic shutter speeds. It had a full 30 seconds long exposure capability, whereas

myF3 had 16 seconds. It was just a little gem.

So, let's see your nominations for the most beautiful SLR, or DSLR, ever made. :D ;) pith

I always liked the look of my Olympus OM-3.

Wish I hadn't sold it (didn't get much for it and a couple nice lenses).

I wonder if any manufacturers have gone to Italian designers for new camera styling. Cars, furniture, clothing, all seem to get help from Italy occasionally.

I think that's what happened with the Pentax K-01, the exception to my Pentax cameras being on this list.

As a kid, I always wanted a K1000.

Hello to pith!! Back in 1968, I was aboard the Navy Hospital ship, REPOSE, off the coast of VietNam, for a year. I bought a fabulous camera and a couple of lenses. Heck!! I even bought a bellows unit for SAME. So.... I think that the Pentax "spotmatic" was the best I've seen. Have since transitioned back into PENTAX, full-force again in the past few years. Gave all my Canon stuff to my appreciative son.
