I have a very shallow question for you all. What is the most physically attractive SLR, or DSLR you've ever seen. This isn't a question for the "a camera is a tool crowd" but for those among us that like the way certain cameras look, in addition to their practical application. For me it's the Contax ST, and the Pentax LX. The Contax is just the most exquisite looking camera I've ever seen. I loved the understated, and in my opinion underrated looks, and utility of the Pentax. It was lighter than an F3, and weather sealed around the pentaprism. It had a full range of manual , and electronic shutter speeds. It had a full 30 seconds long exposure capability, whereas my F3 had 16 seconds. It was just a little gem.

So, let's see your nominations for the most beautiful SLR, or DSLR, ever made. :D ;) pith

It's not a DSLR or even an SLR but I nominate a 35mm camera that began my serious venture into photography while in my early teens. It is an Argus C3 (otherwise known as "the brick" that I got from my Dad as a hand me down in about 1956. I still have it, and it's still beautiful to me.

Without a doubt the black Nikon F3 HP with motor drive attached was, is, the most beautiful camera produced. Did I mention it was designed by a famous Italian just for Nikon. How thoughtful. On second thought, any camera that becomes your favorite also becomes beautiful.

Do you have one of the very early Maxxum 7000's that came out before Exxon's lawsuit against Minolta? The first Maxxum 7000's that came out had crossed X's which was an Exxon trademark. It's valuable to collectors.

There certainly appears to be a fair amount of angry people on here. Myself, at my age, is grateful to be here at all. Have no anger, just joy!

This is definitely an "eye of the beholder" thing. As long as it doesn't look ridiculous, I want a camera with good controls that are easily accessible. Function becomes form.

I wonder if any manufacturers have gone to Italian designers for new camera styling. Cars, furniture, clothing, all seem to get help from Italy occasionally.

For me, it would have to be the Nikon Photomic FTN.

He was just so glad this question had been asked he thought as he turned over scratched his butt and fell into a deep slumber dreaming that a Good Fairy came down to Earth and gave everybody a life.

That's a tough one. My first SLR, a Yashica TL Super, will always be beautiful to me. So will the next one that I will end up buying. No matter what it may be.

My first 35mm camera was a Yashica TL Super as well. I think I gave it to my son in law about 10 years ago. I hope he still has it. It was rather stylish, come to think about it.

My first SLR was a film 35mm Mamiya/Secor 1000. To me, it was a real beauty. It wasn't as bulky as the Nikon Photomic of that time period.

I still have a working Mamiya/Secor DTL 1000-my first SLR. it is a simple, very pretty machine.

For me, the most beautiful SLR is the Alpa 11e with a macro Switar 50mm f1.9 lens. I love to have an Alpa, but can't afford that, then got myself a pair of Nikon in early 70.
Now the most beautiful DSLR for me is the Nikon Df. (It's only my opinion, because I had one :) .
