Your welcome David. I got a chuckle out of your comment!
It should have been obvious at that point.
Can't see the tree for the forest!

Oh yea and one other thing -- Sometimes you can break all the rules and get by with it! It's all in the subject matter.

Hi Everyone,
I didn't see a bad edit. I was worried someone was going to butcher it! All Excellent. The things that impressed me. Were
1) softening
2) recropping
3) Enlarging -- Can someone please tell me what size I need to make my pictures to make them larger and stand out on the forum? The ones who did this were at an advantage in there presentation.
4) Color and saturation changes.
5) Vibrance and clarity.
6) Removing distraction from the background.
Its been a great learning experience for me and I hope to others as well. Hopefully everyone got ideas. Hey -- and you got some cheap photo stock to work on out it!
Thanks again to all,
Russ

To answer question #3
I used Light Room 3 for my final Edit on both photographs and when I exported it, I used the size option and changed the resolution to 1000 and which brought up the photo size, I then brought back down the size to 1024 on the height and let it chose the width, which also kept the image clear. Hope this helped!

She is very pretty. Good photo on it's own. My advice...buy a shotgun to keep the men away.

Nice shot!
I really like the warmth and the skin-tone.

Just got back from Coopers Rock National forest WV. Took some pictures of may daughter. This is the 4th one I looked at. No edits except a right crop to comply with the Rule. I hate the rule. We all know what I'm talking about.
Edits and Opinions please.
Here's your chance.

This reply is for the woods photo ....
I am a big fan of off camera flash...
it looks like the sun was low on the horizon and I would have tried using a flash with a softbox (or similar) to her front left.
I see that you shot at 200mm and Auto exposure, Aperture-priority AE, 1/80 sec, f/2.8, ISO 400, Compensation: -2/3
Maybe the compensation was a bit low since she is not in direct sunlight? The edits have warmed up the scene nicely.
Still, a great shot even as-is, and I like the PP that others have done, it gives this scene the off camera flash look...
cheers!

I have to tell you I messed up on this shoot. only had one flash that was functional, I had four with me. I left my trigger wires at home and was too far away.
I often laugh at people saying they don't need off camera flash because of Edit software. You can do alot with software like VIvesa and Lightroom(I have both). But from my trials and tribulations its not the same. Better to use all the tools and not be lazy. My plan just didn't come together yesterday.
I had to make out with natural light here.
A fellow strobist.
And yep I got a softbox , 4 shoot through umbrellas and a few Honeycombs as well as a multitude of diffusers.

Good for you...but, buy more.
