You have just learned the first rule of photography. Ask a dozen photographers a question and you wil get a dozen differ opinions. So be your own photographer, find your own style and stay with it.

Without clues to go on the bird could be trying to imitate Mario Lanzo or something. MORE tail would help but it's the misleading body language of the birds that is hard to redirect.

I agree with gardenerJim, but if it were mine, I'd like it the way it is...

I like the tail in because it confirms the story

You did fine ! But if it was up to me , cut 1/2 an inch of the right side top to bottom.

For me I would just crop off the bushy part of the tail that is coming back into the picture. I really don't care for Willys rendition. As you can see, we all have different ideas. What you need to do is please yourself.

Keep the tail. Nice shot, leads one to wonder if the tail is going to smack the birds. :?

I've had several people tell me they would have cropped the tail as it's distracting. However, I think the image as taken "tells a story" of the symbiotic relationship between the oxpeckers and the zebra. Plains animals have two choices when it comes to relieving the irritation from insects; either swat them away with their tails or let the oxpeckers "peck" them off. I would really appreciate any feedback - thank you

i took a 2nd look and think this a crop that would work faily well, to include the tail to tell a story you would have to have the whole tail,so in the spirit of working with what you have got it is a shot that needs a crop.....Thank's
