Apple's new Photo( replacing iPhoto).
I join you in hating the new Photos. It brought in 2000 of my 10,000 Iphoto photos and wiped away all my albums. It now shows my photos in almost random fashion. The editing features are basic, fewer than in Iphoto.
I can't imagine why Apple brought out a "new" product so far inferior to the current one.
The only savings grace is that the old Iphoto is still in Launch on the Mac and all my events and albums are still there.

I think it's a major disappointment. There is too much automatic synchronizing from Mac Book Pro to iPad to iPhone. Memory on my phone is filling up with photos that don't need to be there.
From what I read there are lots of complaints....... Why on earth would they remove merging?
I only use it to sync my ipad to iMac to then do TV slideshows, since LR email set up was too complicated even for a techie I hired. Does anyone know why LR doesn't simply link up to ur regularly used email service to send photos. Instead it pulls up a complex set up window ?
I still use Aperture and love it, wish it wasn't going to be obsolete soon. I've never liked Lightroom, or Adobe products in general, but I may be forced to go that route eventually. I'm waiting to be able to use some of my plug-ins like the MacPhun suite or Perfect Photo Suite 9.5 before I jump into Photos, but right now Photos doesn't work with plug-ins so I'm holding off

I share your frustration......what baffles me is that they simply move the icons and links around to different places and call it an update. We then must relearn where everything is , to accomplish the same. People are obsessed with updates because they feel they are getting the " latest" yet the "new" is no better, so apple feels compelled to " create" fictional updates regularly. And they never ask us how we feel about it.
My MACPro (2011 vintage) was near "maxed-out" locally (read:hard disk precariously close to not-able-to-task). "Photo" has me "CRASHED" @ this point. Expletives deleted and redacted. Another day, another task.
I, too, have the new Photos update just waiting to be done. With Aperture unknown for the future, I have purchased and currently am using Elements 13. Having not been familiar with Adobe products, there was a bit of a learning curve. I also use the Nik collection and have most of Topaz Labs software which integrates nicely with Elements 13. My question has to do with organizing my photos now. I was hoping just to use Photos for this reason alone. I do like the idea that my iPad will share what is on my Mac. How do you feel Photos handles the basic organization of photos? I realize most of you love Lightroom. I'm hoping that I can get by with just Photos for now since there's so much change/learning going currently. I didn't really ever use the old Photos and loved Aperture. Thank you in advance for your help..

It handles the basics ok . If they can stop messing with and changing where everything is then use it for basic stuff. We have no choice if we want to synk to our precious ipad then on to TV. But for heavy editing I encourage LR stand alone version.

I photo was OK forsimple editing.... photo lost a lot and really sucks....unfortunately I cannot return... I have aperture...but the merge of photo and aperture is not there.....lost a lot in aperture.....
I hear a lot of positives about light room....but do not like paying a monthly fee....would prefer to buy the program...
I considered the options and figured LR or Corel's AfterShot Pro 2. Got a deal getting AfterShot practically for free and signed up for Adobe's free trial of PS and LR.
My Adobe download came with malware...
Found a comparison between LR and AfterShot on YouTube, Digital Photography Cafe.
I'm going with Corel's AfterShot Pro 2. I can always buy LR 6 for $149 at some point.

Maybe you need to just move on and find a program that cares about your investment into photography.

Honest, I'm not trying to be a smartass, but what does that even mean?

Clueless as to what this means
