Took these yesterday on my way to a hike at Beavertail State Park in Jamestown. The windmill & bridge were done in Paint Effect.

There used to be a windmill on Aquidneck Island, West Main Road, that looked very similar to your shot. All of these are a flashbacks for me. Enjoyed!!! Thanks.

Tools, actually you could be right because there are not that many around. I believe there is one in Tiverton. I will have to see if I had the GPS on in the camera....... I just checked the map. You were close it was South West Ave. which leads into N. Main Rd. Thanks for viewing and the correction.

Me again Tools. I checked out the map on Light Room and it was North Rd. but South West Rd becomes North Rd. after an intersection. Wow! These computers are something else....except for the printer problem I had today. :)

You are correct. Quite some time ago the mill was removed from the West Main Road site in Portsmouth. It was relocated and rebuilt in Middletown off Paradise Ave in a picturesque setting near the old red schoolhouse.
I lived on Aquidneck Island for 63 years before moving out of state several years ago. As a youngster, I remember playing around that mill and another one (rectangular rather than round) near the former Weyerhauser Road.

Thanks for squaring that away Beowulf. I wondered what happened to that one. When Tools said Aquidneck Island I confused it with Conanicut Island (Jamestown). The last few times I was on Aquidneck I wondered why I didn't see the windmill. I never new there were two in RI and I pride myself with knowing RI History. No matter how old you are you can always learn something new. Thanks again.

Thanks EkingbirdRI. It is nice to know there are so many Rhode Islanders on UHH. And Yes we do have some unique places for such a small area. You don't have to go to far in RI to find something to make a nice photograph. I find Rhode Island in the Fall to be so beautiful, especially along Narragansett Bay. I never took my boat out of the water until late November when I was in Boating (Sailing).
