Thank you, but those two are for Canon, unless I'm missing one for Nikon. I'm looking for that lens for a Nikon. D7100 to be exact.

If the newer one with OS was anything like the first version, it will be a doozy!
We have 2 of the older versions at work and it is amazingly sharp and compact.
Perfect when paired with Nikon's 17-55 2.8 and a DX camera.
Good luck with finding one.
I'll keep an eye out.

Actually, from all the reviews I've read on the one with OS, which is the one I'm looking for (now discontinued) it has better glass and is sharper than the two previous versions. I called Sigma again and they finally told me that as fantastic as this lens is the plain simple truth is they weren't selling enough of them to warrant the floor space at the factory so they decided to retool that room for manufacturing other Sigma lenses that sell in higher volume. And they are not planning a replacement for the 50-150 f2.8 lens. Well, actually they did say, and I quote here "we're replacing the 50-150 with a 150-600". What?!? A 150-600 is a replacement for the 50-150? Makes NO sense to me.

What a bummer :(

I have that lens. Use it on a D7100. It is superb. They do occassionally come up on ebay. Don't know of anyone who has it new, but it is well worth searching for. Hope you find one.

Sigma discontinued this lens, unknown why, but it's the perfect answer to a 70-200 for an APS-C camera such as my D7100. I can't find this lens anywhere, B&H, Adorama, nowhere, it's just no longer available. The reviews on this lens are amazing so I don't understand WHY Sigma discontinued it. I called Sigma, they told me they are not planning a replacement for this lens and their rep also told me they don't know why they discontinued this lens, which I find odd.

Any info on this lens such as WHY it was discontinued or WHERE I can find one would be greatly appreciated.

NewzShooter good morning. I have not read all the replies to your post and I apologize if I may be repeating someone else. I have heard KEH is very reputable for equipment, they may have this item. Also, may I suggest Milford Photo in Milford, CT. Jesse Thompson is my go to camera guy and meetup guru. Website milfordphoto.com, they are Nikon, Canon, Tamron and Sigma authorized. Hope this helps. Jeff

You'll just have to track down a used one. It's been discontinued for a year or two.

I think the reason it was dropped is that it was just as large, heavy and expensive as a full frame and crop-capable 70-200/2.8, and there are high quality examples of those from almost every manufacturer. Being "crop only", f it had been smaller, lighter and cheaper there would have been an advantage to it instead of one of the 70-200s... But it's not.

Folks who I know who used it thought it was an excellent lens.

A quick search supported what you said about availability. I think that should tell you something about that lens. You might want to rethink why nobody has one, and they are no longer making them.

Now that I know you need Nikon, and you absolutely have to have OS and a focus motor in the lens, I know what to look for.

As you may know, the first two versions are much smaller/lighter - which is really preferable for Canon shooters and using a monopod.

Not that long ago ( 3 months) there were several on ebay - some in fact NEW ones ( old stock).

Cameta Camera has this listing under used Sigma Lenses;
SIGMA

Nikon AF Mt 50-150mm f/2.8 SIGMA APO EX DC OS Lens (Boxed) w/caps, lens hood and lens case - NOTE: tripod mount missing

Sigma's proprietary OS (Optical Stabilizer) system offers the use of shutter speeds approximately 4 stops slower than would otherwise be possible, enabling hand held tele-photography. Six SLD glass elements compensate for chromatic aberrations and provide high image quality throughout the zoom range. The Super Multi-Layer Coating reduces flare and ghosting and ensures sharp and high contrast images even at the maximum apertures. The lens design adopts an inner focusing and inner zooming system to provide convenient handling and the HSM (Hyper Sonic Motor) ensures quiet and high speed autofocus while allowing full-time manual focus override. This lens has a minimum focusing distance of 80cm (31.5") and a maximum magnification ratio of 1:6.3. The rounded 9 blade diaphragm creates an attractive blur to the out of focus areas of the image. (less)

Condition Rating: MINT Serial Number: 13228060

I've bought from them several times and had no problems. Their Cust Serv was very good as well.

Good luck
