Nikon Equipment Sales

I will likely be purchasing some Nikon equipment this year (no particular time pressure), and I'm wondering if any Hoggers have noted any regular timing of Nikon sales. A blog search on this topic hasn't turned up any particular patterns.

Any insights?

Well, Nikon just had a lens sale in March. Think it's ended, though.

They usually have discounts before Christmas.
The lens only rebate that just ended occurs around February-March. Follow Nikon Rumors for sale announcements.

I read the falling value of the Yen prompted Canon's recent lens discounts ....

They usually have them in February or March. I saved my shekels for the sale.

I would purchase REFURBISHED Nikon products directly from Nikon USA or one of their certified dealers. In the past year, I've purchased my D800, 24-70 and 14-24 as s refurbished from both Nikon and Adorama and am very pleased not only with the gear, but with the speed and quality of the service provided by both. The savings were substantial and the equipment was AS New Condition. My experience has been so positive that I would never buy retail unless forced to. The only problem is that you may find that some articles are not immediately available.

Every March, but if you get photo mags they will list it late. So check the web at B&H in March. Or, get on the Nikon mailing list and they will let you know of any specials during the year. Like they now have the 750 body 300 off.

Edmund...Do you use the 14-24 very much? It's one reason I would hesitate to buy it. Instead I might go with the 20mm prime, since I have the 24-70. I find that 24mm works quite well for a lot of my landscape needs. I've also kept my 10-24mm Tamron attached to my D7000.

What I'm lusting after now is the new 300mm f4 with a 1.4x.

They usually have sales for Father's Day and sometimes Mother's Day also. IF you can wait a bit it might work out. Good Luck and welcome to The Hog.

If you purchase from B&H, Adorama, or KEH, do they charge taxes for out of state customers?

I have purchased refurbished lenses and cameras from B&H with no problem. My D810 was used and going strong.
