Very good pictures Rick, I love the 64' Galaxy 500 XL.
Hi Earnest. She has a factory 420'something under the hood! Bet she would be fun to take out for a spin!

The emblem on the fender says 390, but Ford did have a 406 and a 427 back in the day. This was my favorite from
the 60' and I am a Chevy man.

Back in the day, my same color red '63 Galaxy XL was often seen stopped at the same location: The gas pumps !!!!!
Care & feeding of a Ford big-block is NOT cheap.
With a close-ratio 4-speed & a low-geared rear end, that meant it topped-out at about a hundred. But boy, would it get there FAST.
Just going on what someone told me. I had a 68 Malibu with 307 badges and the guy I bought it from dropped in a 400 hp 427 and turbo 400 trany out of a wrecked 69 vette. Made for quit a sleeper!

Nice. I like that '64 Ford 390. I had a similar black '65 427.
Mine had the original 2.73 rear end. Not much off the line but just wait till you got her moving. Too much power braking and the drive tire went up in smoke!
She did the 1/4 mile in the low 15s but had a top end over 130.

Mine had the standard 3.55. I never ran it on the track.

Good shots, Rick, especially like 1 & 2. Oh that Ford Galaxy. Beautiful car. Would loved to have one like it. Thanks for sharing.....
Thanks Norm. I think that car doesn't pass up too many gas pumps in its travels!
