While at the Osprey nest this afternoon there was sudden activity - a Bald Eagle decided to get a free meal from an Osprey bringing home his freshly caught fish.

Very very nice Doug, you are fortunate to see this, and get a good set of shots. The Eagles are opportunists, and always looking for the easy way to get a meal

how lucky are you to have seen this. what a terrific natural event. one thing your set illustrates is just how large eagles are. the osprey is no small bird but dwarfed by the eagle in 1-3.thanx for posting. gary
What a great action packed set, Doug!
Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for your comments gregoryd45. Once before, a long time ago I saw, close up, an Eagle try to take a fish from an Osprey - very opportunistic, indeed!

Gary, thanks for commenting. Yes, a huge size difference but the Osprey don't seem to be all that afraid of such a big bully.

Great set, Doug, and a very excellent capture of the event!
Thanks!
wonderful images of the interaction between species. I've seen crows team up and chase an eagle until the eagle dropped it's catch. Crows don't like eagles for some reason.
Lots of action, and each bird got what he deserved!!!!
We are not fortunate enough to be able to see Ospreys in southern England, not are we able to see Bald Eagles, we do have Red Kites and Buzzards. The Kite has a wing shaped similar to the Osprey although being a lot smaller and can easily our fly the Buzzard whose wing is shaped more like the Bald Eagle again though a lot smaller. Is this the same with the Osprey and the Bald Eagle, the Osprey can out fly the Eagle? Great images and action, oh to see it happen.!!
