Well, I did it. I made reservations for the June 9, 2016 departure to Israel with Overseas Adventures Travel. I put a downpayment today and have about 9 months to pay it off. I'll try to pay it off early if I can because they offer progressive discounts the sooner you pay in full. I also have to buy airfare back and forth from St. Louis (probably +- $1100). I've never gone anywhere so expensive! I'll wake up the morning of my birthday in a kibbutz cabin instead of suffering jet lag the day i arrive.

Where is the Kibbutz?
The itinerary says it's Kfar Haruvin the Golan Heights. The actual accommodations are at the Peace Vista Lodge, operated by the Kibbutz (or similar). This will be my first trip to Asia and the farthest I've gone. My previous record will have been Frankfurt, Germany.
Interesting at the Golan is the view to the Kibbitzum below. You can see why Israel would not give it up. The Golan is a perfect artillery placement to fire on the Jews in the valley. Lots of war relics dotting the area when I was there.
