Eagle Panning With 7DMK II 100-400L II W/ 1.4XIII

Wanted to show the speed and ability to track objects with this Combo. I
find it to be quite fast in AF. The distance from the snag to the nest is about forty feet. This sequence has fourteen shots from snag to nest.

On a sad note a thunder storm yesterday afternoon blew down the nest
tree and killed two of the three babies. My friend was able to get the
surviving baby to a rehab facility and we think it will make it. mdh

Too bad about the nest and young one's. These captures are great. That Mark II is fast. I think I may be getting the 100-400. I'm sure I'll get the Mark II. It's on my bucket list for this fall for sure. But just can't decide between the Canon 100-400 or the Sigma 150-600. I'm still looking for convincing evidence to get the Canon 100-400. My concern is the use of the tele-converter on either. Very good pictures. If you want to give any more advice please do so.

Thanks, I have the Tamron 150-600 but it is soft at 600, this lens with
the Canon 1.4XIII extender gives me 560mm fast AF and sharper shots with lower light than I can get with the Tamron. I hear a lot of good things about the Sigma and we have folks here that get great results with the Tamron. Regis has posted lots of shots with his new 7DMK II and the Tamron, you might want to PM him. mdh

Dennis, nice series and captures. They are certainly sharp!
Glad you were able to save one of the chicks. Great job all around!

Excellent series, loved the downloads, and sorry to hear the bad news, but maybe the one will make it. A similar incident happened in out neighborhood a few years ago when a strong electrical storm toppled a large tree that eagles had nested in for several years, and killed one of the adults.

Thanks, the center that has it thinks it has a good chance. I will miss
that tree it gave me a lot of good shots the past couple of years.
They had already built a new nest in a live large pine but when back
to the old nest for some reason. I hope they stay and use it next year.

Thanks, I know that is all part of Mother Nature but it is tough to watch
at times. Glad I could share. mdh
