I went to another beautiful spot to hike in Lancaster County, PA yesterday. Saw a bald eagle fly over but I wasn't quick enough to capture it. Here is one photo - it isn't my favorite but some comments about my shutter speeds for the waterfall shot made me decide to post this one. I personally like the second photo better.

Slowing down shutter speed would have 'smoothed' the water for interesting effect. Great shots though.

Thanks. Comments yesterday was that the slower shutter speeds made the water look fake. So I posted these with faster shutter speeds. I have several with slower speeds that I haven't done the PP yet.

Nice shots. They appear to be taken during mid day when the light is kind of harsh. Not much you can to about that. If the place isn't too far away, try going back for that "magic hour" light within an hour of sunrise/sunset. It may mean doing some hiking in the dark but that what it takes sometimes.
An overcast day will help to soften the light as well.

I like #1. My eye can follow the water.

When we reached this spot, it was definitely closer to Noon. I plan to go back but NOT hiking that trail in the dark, holy moly, I'd fall off the tiny path into the water - a decent drop from parts of the trail ha ha.

14kphotog - stay tuned. I just got a good tripod and have been experimenting. Failure so far but will be working on some more.

Both good but I like the composition of the first one better. I too would like to see this same picture with a slower shutter speed and softer lighting. I'll be waiting.

well sheesh! Stopping the water in mid-air has a kinda fake look to it too since we can't do that with our own eyes......

Okay, here is a slow one! Shot using a D80 with 18-200mm f/3.5, ISO 100, 1/2 sec, F/36. I took 88 shots of this and liked this one best. #2 was shot a bit faster 1/800th of a sec @ f/8.

docrob - ha ha ha. Yep and I love the dreamy look when done correctly but I have yet to get one right. I have been practicing so I can go back to the most beautiful place in Pennsylvania - land of 25 or so waterfalls. And I need to go back to this place, retake the pictures in the correct light. Not sure when I can get that done. But will definitely post if they turn out.
