Wildflowers on a Fence Post

I went for a ride out in the country today to take advantage of the gorgeous weather. I stopped to let my dog "do his business" and I saw these little flowers next to a fence post. I pulled them up, wedged them between some splinters on the post, then poured some water on the post to make it darker. This is what I came up with.

Taken with a Pentax K-50 using a SMC Pentax-FA 50mm f:2.8 macro lens. ISO 800, 1/90th @ f:22.

you don't need most of the bottom and always blurry out the background your flower is the subject not the post. all ways focus on the flowers center for this type of shot

It's always been my opinion that composition is a very subjective thing. What one person deems proper or pleasing is only their opinion. You compose YOUR photos the way YOU prefer, I'll do MINE the same. I've been doing this for over 50 years and I have written books on the subject.... so I don't need any lessons from you.... but thanks the same. However, if I ever get in a bind, I know where to go for some advice, eh?

It seems you do not read the heading of the gallery it which you post your pictures. It says for critique so thats what I did. for free. If you been taking pictures for 50 yrs I suggest you take a course or join a club I am a Judge for photography competitions and any one will tell you the same. Good luck to you and you shouldn't post anything if you do not have thick skin. DONT GETY NASTY WITH ME

Super shot, Dewman! The delicate flowers are a lovely contrast in texture to the weathered wood of the post.

May I suggest that you buy yourself a dictionary and a book on proper grammar? That would be a good place for you to start. My reply had nothing to do with the thickness of my skin, only the critique from someone who obviously is a novice. I'd be happy to compare portfolios with you any time.

Thank you, Dixie Girl.... I too thought the flowers were a good contrast with the rough-hewn post. The colors also were quite striking. It was such a great addition to gorgeous spring afternoon! An added attraction.... there was a small herd of cattle standing across the fence from me, watching curiously as I snapped away. :)

Thanks for the nice compliment, MLPT. What type of music do you like? Me, I'm fairly eclectic in my tastes, but usually find myself leaning toward blues and southern rock most of the time.

Lets take comments in the spirit of the group and not take offence . I can see that it would look good cropped as in my comment but I can also accept that the person taking it takes it as they want to portray it and probably felt it important to show the setting. There are no right and wrong ways just different ways! Even judges do not always agree with each other!! Peace please.
