hot shoe adapter for A77II

Friedman says the Sony brand adapter is poorly made and wobbly but he doesn't suggest another one (that I could see). I have a Sony flash HVL - 56AM which I understand requires an adapter to use with the A77II. I'm looking for recommendations for the best quality adapter not the cheapest. Thanks in advance.

My Sony A99 came with a sony flash adapter for the older sony flashes. I do not remember what the product number was, but it worked perfectly with no problems. I am sure the sony adapter will work fine. Maybe Friedman got a bad one or just had a headache the day he tested it.

Sony #ADPMAA Adapter. Note: Be sure not to over tighten and you will be fine.

I don't recall the brand, but I got one from Amazon that worked fine. Maybe I just lucked-out and got a good one first time around. An alternative is to get one of those L brackets that attaches to the tripod mount and holds a flash off to the side.

This is another example of why it is not smart to try to set your own standards.

The Sony worked fine can use my flash with either my A77 or A77ii.

Wow! talk about timing - I just got off the phone ordering the promaster (at a very good price) and after seeing this post got right back on the phone and cancelled the order. I have now ordered the Sony unit from Adorama and hope it holds up.

The A77 uses a different flash shoe than the A77II. You can use the old Minolta flashes on the A77 without an adapter but you would need an adapter to put older Minolta and Sony flash units on the A77II.
