Borrowed a friends new lens, Olympus 40-150mm F/2.8, wish it had more reach but otherwise, very impressed.

These shots were all handheld. Lens has some weight but not really heavy, but will want to use 2 hands, not 1.
Would need tripod more to compensate for a slow shutter speed rather than to handle weight of lens.

Buy an emc14 for a bit more reach.

Thought about it, but that makes it a 210mm F4 and the 300mm F4 is due out probably around Nov-Dec. Think I'll wait and see how they will price the 300mm, might not be that much more than 150mm + emc14.

My best guess is that the 300mm with run 1699 at a bare minimum. I'm afraid to see what the 7-14 is going to set me back. I'm hoping it's no more than the 12-40.

I hope you're right about the price, I anticipate anywhere from $2000 to $2500, for the 300mm.

This would be a first for a m4/3 to demand a price that high. To date, the 40-150 is the most expensive lens that oly or pana makes, right? (Not including 4/3 lenses).

Yes, but the quality of the lenses keep improving and with higher quality comes higher prices. With that said, I still feel the Olympus 75mm 1.8 produces the sharpest image of all their lenses and it's "Only" $900 (recently on sale for $800)

Or 670 refurbished :-)

It's one of my favorite lenses I've ever shot.
