Great video of a great plane. Thanks
A very interesting and informative video.
Thank you for sharing it.
Good video.
I was surprised to hear the guy refer to it as an ugly ducking. I have always thought that it was an aircraft with nice lines.
There are actually quite a number of these planes still surviving. Search and Rescue in BC had at least two operating up until just a year or so ago. They used them for forest fire fighting as well.

Yeah it's ugly but beautiful at the same time....
Dead Downwind is a book about the pn9's and the trip from San Fran to Hawaii. A lot of pictures.
Just for fun, watch Donald Sutherland in "Steelyard Blues'. A PBY plays a major role in it.
There's this one in a museum at Wanaka, NZ.

Wow - true dedication to keep the memory alive. Very well done video, and unbelievable restoration.
The Wanaka museum plane must be a scale model as the real PBY has a wing span around 130 feet. Either that, or those New Zealanders ride some pretty honkin' big bikes!
Great video of a great plane.
If you're interested in restorations, one I find interesting is "Glacier Girl," a Lockheed P-38F Lightning fighter plane, that was restored to flying condition after being buried beneath the ice of the Greenland Ice Sheet for over 50 years.
