CamRanger Wireless Transmitter

Does anyone out there own a CamRanger Wireless Transmitter? I'm a garden/landscape photographer, and it seems like this might be a good addition to my kit. At the same time, I might just have a case of GAS. The other thing I'm looking for is a device that will fill the void left by the loss of my Epson P3000 Storage Device. Suggestions?

The CamRanger is made for the use you have in mind. It will expand your "live view" image while allowing control of the camera. Your landscapes might improve and you will enjoy it. Have fun.

There are several threads on the CamRanger here.
Use the search function and you'll find a lot of info.
There is even a thread someone posted for an easy to make DIY using the same router for less than half the price.
I use the CamRanger for work a to transfer photos for on the spot prints and for art directors to have their own monitor. Saves a lot of time.
Make sure your camera is compatible- it doesn't work with all of them.

I have a Camranger for use on my D800E, my D750 has wifi so doesn't need the Camranger. The Camranger is ideal for bird and wildlife photography when you want to get away from the camera to avoid scaring off the subjects. How did you lose a P3000? I still use my P5000 although 80 GB is not looking too big these days with the huge file sizes. On a trip of more than a couple of days I take a macbook air and a couple of 500 GB portable hard drives. But I like the P5000 better for its lovely reviewing screen.

For storage, if this was available last year, I would have gotten one.

I took a look and saw that I had this page bookmarked. I bought the TP Link about a year ago and got stalled with the setup, so I set it aside. When I get back to it, I'll throw a question or two at you if I can't get it working.

I don't recall what the problem was, but following the various directions offered online didn't give me the proper results.

The links that were in my post are the ones I used. I think you had an issue with a model version that was different than the firmware version tha t should have been on it. It's worth revisiting.

One of these days. I'm just glad I didn't pay $300 for it. Of course, if I had paid $300, it would probably be working now.

I have one and I did like it but now it seems something is wrong. I own a Nikon D5200. CamRanger does support the 5200. My problem is that the CamRanger must be plugged into the jack for the remote shutter release. By doing this the "Live View" is disabled, making the CamRanger in useable. Live view is need for the Ranger to work properly.

I may be doing something wrong, have some setting not properly set. I anyone can help me out on this I would be grateful.

My eyesight is not what it used to be and I was hoping I could focus better with the Ranger as I have a couple lenses that are not Auto Focus.

If I could get it to work right I would go ahead and get the remont controlled mount.

I have a CamRanger and enjoy it for shooting hummingbirds.
There is a short shutter lag when using it.
If you have a Canon DSLR( I use a 5D II) try Canon'sLive View.
It's much more stable but it isn't wireless, you will need a long USB cord.
I use a 20 footer so I can sit inside and shoot.

I use the CamRanger with a D5300. The Live View on the camera is disabled, because you get CamRanger's Live View on the device you connect it to wirelessly. I've successfully used my Samsung Galaxy S-4 (Android phone), Kindle Fire HD (Android tablet), my wife's iPad 2, my daughter's newer iPad?, and my 2011 MacBook Pro. The notebook is the best choice for my because of the larger screen. The software for each device is a free download. In the 6 month period since I got it, CamRanger has offered free updated firmware on the unit, and added several other features: http://camranger.com/blog/

That's why it was worth $300.00 IMHO. I use it for hummingbirds and the night sky.

Using the TP LInk MR 3040 and one of the freeware/donationware apps gives you the same functionality. If you have to use an Apple device, then DSLR Dashboard is one that offers that. The cost of the TP Link is $35, and it is the exact same device as the one used by Camranger.

Anyone considering a Camranger might be able to save themselves $265. Now THAT'S a deal!

That makes sense.

But unfortunately, I'm retired and too busy spending money to save any. Another example, instead of building a barn door tracker, I bought an iOptron SkyTracker for yet another $300.00. Now that I think about it, I could have been buying the 150-600 lens I want   Oh well, there's aways tomorrow
