UFO Can anyone tell me what this is?

I was trying to take a photo of a heron in a tree when this thing flew over. The photos are not good, it was dusk, and I wasn't ready for this thing. It seemed to be about the size of an ultra light, but it had a solid body and wings and a rear propeller. It was large enough to have someone sitting in the front. Hubby thought it was some kind of drone, but why fly a drone over the park?

Burt Rutan flew one of those non-stop from Anchorage, Alaska to San Juan PR back in the 80s.

Nice shots with you SX60. Curious if you recall what zoom range you shot at. I missed shots of a Osprey flying not being able to track it in time. For BIF I never use the digital zoom and usually try and shoot between 50x to 65x using the view finder and still have difficulty tracking my shot.

Or possibly the Vari-ez, both Rutan designed experimental home built aircraft.

It was a Vari-Ezekiel that John Denver died in. Sad accident that could have been avoided. The previous owner changed the fuel switch selector location and John was leaning around to switch it and inadvertently pushed a rudder pedal gently which caused it to roll over and inverted and crash into the sea from low altitude.

Careful or the aliens will get you. It is most likely a drone from the mother ship looking for intelligent life on an unexplored planet. Un fortunately he won't find intelligent life here.
