Folks, one summer my wife and I watched a PBS special on TV about the explorations of Lewis and Clark. I believe it was called "Corps of Discovery". Well, that got our own exploration juices flowing so we packed the car one day and headed out to see if we could find these famous explorers. We found William Clark buried in the suburbs of St. Louis Missouri. His fellow friend and explorer Meriwether Lewis was found buried in a State Park here in Tennessee about 77 miles southwest of Nashville. Sadly Meriwether Lewis was found dead at a place called The Grinder House along the Natchez Trace Road. His death remains a mystery as to whether it was suicide or murder. I thought some of you History Buffs might enjoy these so here are a few photos I took at both explorers grave sites.

Nice shots. I saw that documentary - very interesting. Strange about Lewis's death.

Yes, it was a well done documentary and was really interesting. In fact, a few artifacts they collected on their journey are on display in a museum underneath the arch in St. Louis. Lewis's ancestors have petitioned the State of Tennessee for permission to exhume his remains but last I heard the request was denied.

That's so cool...we've been wanting to see some of that ourselves. Especially the place in Montana where William Clark scratched his name into the rocks.

We do to Bob...but be careful driving that big RV down narrow streets. I shattered my RH mirror in downtown Springfield Illinois. Thankfully, I was able to replace it for $25. Now, we park and walk....

Nice photo essay here, James. I saw the documentary myself (or one very much like it). Amazing they survived their journey at all. Perhaps the most amazing job of exploration by any Americans, ever.

And for once, Congress appropriated money on something that was actually worthwhile, and they got more than their money's worth. Of course, that was in the old days.
