How do you know if there is information on your SD card by just using your nikon d7100? This is if you are on the road and not wanting to erase pictures or videos. I shot the videos or pictures with other sources and don't want to format the cards before I know they have info that I already saved on my pc.

If you don't have a card reader such as in most lap tops with you, your photo counter in your camera will let you know how many available photos you can take. You should know what an empty card capacity is in whatever format you shoot. If it's less than that, you have data on the card. You should be able to see both photos and video on playback unless it's in some format your camera can't read.

Hi Mike. I am not sure what you are asking here. But you should be able to put it back in the camera and see what is on the card. On both of my Nikons there is a button with a triangle on the left top I push and then I can scroll through and look.

The only way to be totally safe is to use a card reader. If you use an SD card in different cameras, each will make it's own folder of images, but those folders won't show up when the card is inserted into other cameras.

I think there is a way to see if the photos were done on another camera. I read it in one of my nikon books but can't remember which one. One of the cards reads full but it was used on either a nikon d3100 or a canon point and shoot. Thank you. But you can not see any images on my nikon d 7100.

I am out in the field shooting and don't have computer access when I wanted to use the two cards. Are there SD cards which can connect to a wifi?

Eye-Fi cards, which is what I have in all my cameras.
