I am was have a similar problem of getting a red fringe where the sky line and tree line merge on one lens and could not find the problem until I red the post and looked at lens and I had Canon UV filter on it I had forgot to take off. Removing correct the problem, Thanks to UHH response.
I know this problem all too well. Even when I am at the lenses sweet spot, I have this problem but only because the particular lens is not a high end lens. So, I cheat when this happens. I get rid of it the lazy way. I have cs5 and under "image" i go to the saturation tool and click on the color drop down box and click on red. Then I place the eyedropper on a red fringe portion and then slide the saturation slider to the left and it disappears. Not a perfect fix but it works. When Photogirl 57 reads this, she is going to throw up all over the place.
I believe u are metering on the darkest part of what u are shooting. U need to find the medium gray area for medering. I had that problem for a while.
Off subject, but I love the old house!
You can focus on a light spot and the hold the button down and then move camera to find a better composition.

Rexene...Not really off subject since the old house is what the red sample was taken from. Thanks for your complement.

Good point Marvin, thank you
After you have used lens correction, go to Image/adjustments/ hue/saturation. Click on the master down arrow and pick blues. The eye dropper tool will already be chosen. Zoom in on the photo and pick just the colored fringe (it does not have to be blue). Then reduce the the saturation and or the brightness. This will remove the fringe. It will also remove that color from the rest of the photo. If it is a white sky it is no problem, a blue sky will mostly dissapear.
