Went down the road the other afternoon to shoot an old feedmill that went bankrupt and will proably be demolished. I thought it would be a good place to try a new PP that I got through the same folks that make Portrait Professional. #1. I'm sort of new at this PP stuff so I need some help to see if I'm doing OK. #2. I need to let me know what these shots look like on their monitors since I use an uncalibrated laptop what I see on my monitor isn't what I see on UHH but am trying to at least get in the ballpark. EW gave me a pretty good shot to go by for color but as some of you know I do prefer B&W. So don't be afraid to give er hell, it'll help me learn.......
It's kinda dark on my calibrated monitor. What I'm seeing when zoomed in is mottling of the colors over the entire photo indicating underexposure.
Don't know if this is what you're looking for or not. Can you tell us more about the new program?
The new program is called Smart Photo and is put out by the same company as Portrait Professional. I'm so totally confused right now I don't know what to think. I was just told on another thread that my photos (including the one above) that they were overexposed which I found hard to believe. I found the above photo to be underexposed and that's how I exposed purposely when shooting. I'm getting more gray hair here---will try and send you photo right out of camera and tell me what you think--does this look overexposed to you??
Hope you don't mind but I lightened it up a bit and worked a little with contrast.
Here is a little tone-mapping.

I know how to do all these things. The problem I'm having is what I see on my screen is NOT what others with calibrated screens are seeing on their screen. What you've done would be considered overexposed---I know this because I went through this entire process all afternoon. What you posted looks fine to me---now go back to the photo I posted where I was told it was overexposed. Does it look overexposed to you?? This has been what I've been dealing with all day. Same photo, one person telling me it's overexposed(which I know it's not) and another telling me it's underexposed. Just ordered Dells top of the line monitor, spent $600 on a problem which I am reluctant to believe exhists........
I misunderstood...my bad....Your shots are way underexposed on my monitor.

Way underexposed! But, what concerns me is you said it is SOOC. If that's the case, then your camera isn't working right. It shouldn't be that dark if your camera says it's exposed properly. Also, which Dell monitor did you purchase? I just purchased the U2410 for $500
I think ward5311 got it just about right.

It is underexposed on purpose to show to others on another thread that my shots are not overexposed on every shot. Somehow this thread got switched over from Photo Gallery to here in the middle of the thread so actually you are only seeing 1 photo that I posted intentionally underexposed to see if anyone could see that it was done so and you did. Everytime I post a photo I'm told it is overexposed despite the fact it looks good on my monitor(laptop)and prints good. I will post another shot that printed nice for me but I was told it was over exposed. If you get time to look let me know what you think. I decided to go with the 21.5 inch monitor and got it from Dell for $239..........

Thank you, that's how they look to me. I intentionally underexposed them because everything I was posting I was told was overexposed. I enclosed one of my shots and if you have the time to look tell me if it looks overexposed to you. I printed this shot and it looks fine---getting gray hair over this.......
whoever is tellin' you that is either jerkin' your chain, or their monitor is way off..or..they are confused as to what under and over exposed means..
