Thanks Pat for heading up another fabulous challenge! I will be working with my 50mm lens over the next few days. I need to get a handle on it as I want to use it more, and it is a 1.8 ...thus more light.

(http://www.ephotozine.com/article/take-a-one-lens-challenge-this-january-13484 ). Using one camera and one lens was definitely a challenge for me. Any lens will do, but I suggest choosing one you don’t use often. If you choose a zoom, stick to only one focal length - no fair using the zoom! You will rediscover how f-stops, ISO and shutter speed relate to each other and the lens you choose. This exercise can affect your reaction time (because you’ve come to “know” the lens), improve posture (??!!), improve the technical quality of your photos, make you more creative, and….5 more important considerations found in this article: ( http://www.photoventure.com/2014/04/18/9-reasons-you-only-need-one-camera-and-one-lens/ )

I chose to use my 18-55 mm “kit lens” - a lens I seldom use. I chose 55mm for my focal length. Tell us what lens you chose, why and your focal length. Sounds easy, right? I found this was also an exercise in “self discipline” to maintain that focal length; I wanted to zoom.

Have fun, shoot, show and discover the qualities and limitations of your chosen lens. Cropping and Post Production editing is allowed - just tell us if you did either.

Thank you Mom of 2 for the great job in hosting "Macro and Close-uo" Some super shots and a great hostess.

Great challenge, Pat. I didn't choose the lens and focal length for this challenge. UPS chose it for me. I got my new Sigma 150-500mm lens last Monday and, of course, had to try it out. Since it is new, it's not a lens or a focal length I'm used to handling and, for the time being, the only choice in camera body is the D7000 so this all fits in with the guidelines very well. Here are two for now. I hope to be able to get out and shoot more over the next few days.

Excellent Pat. I've been using my Canon 24 - 105mm and enjoyed the varied focal lengths. I purchased a Tamron 90mm macro lens a couple of months ago for some outside shots this coming Spring and Summer. This will give me a chance to give it a little workout before Spring is sprung. Thanks for hosting.

I'll be back.. going to check out the frozen Ct. river! Totally frozen over which doesn't happen that often! Maybe visit the Coast Guard Museum, too. Packed up my camera stuff ready to go... ;-)

I like your shot but there is plenty of room for improvement. Do you mind if I post a reworked version and tell you what I did?

Nice ones Rr. I'm liking the field of view on the 35mm.
